A modern cottage garden

The challenge with this garden was to satisfy the client's diverse needs. The garden needed to accomodate a modern sculptural water feature, but the overall feel of the garden was quite traditional, verging on a cottage garden. The garden needed to offer privacy, but still be open and airy as the existing planting was intrusive. The solution was to create a number of different spaces, separate garden rooms, within this large wrap-around garden. The lawn area was reminiscent of a cottage garden, the side garden offered seclusion and the front portion was modern and open. It was all tied together with sandstone paving that formed four patio areas and ran through the whole garden.
