2008 Show garden - Tatton Park

The garden is called ‘Relax play, enjoy’ because that’s what we believe a modern garden is for. Its aim is to create a practical space for the whole family to use. There are two zones within the garden, one to relax and one to play. A sweeping curve runs through the garden and hints at this division rather than intruding into the space. The division is reinforced by two circles: the patio for entertaining and the lawn for playing. Three sandstone spheres and a spherical stainless steel water feature create impact and match the strong curved lines of the garden, as does the spectacular swing seat. The planting is designed for year-round interest and seasonal impact. The curves of the design are reflected in the rounded forms of many of the plants with more architectural foliage for contrast.
