A low maintenance urban courtyard garden
The brief was to create a low maintenance garden
that met a fairly diverse number of requests. The garden needed
to be private and yet make the most of a fairly open aspect and
offer a number of themed areas. The solution was to create two terraces.
The lower one, closer to the house, was screened by trellis panels
and climbing plants and the upper terrace was more open, using plants
to create an informal screen to the boundaries. The garden was gravelled
and included a number of features for added interest, such as a
large natural stone circle. A variety of planting was then used,
to create different areas within the garden.
